WarStrikes / Transparency

Methodology

How WarStrikes collects, classifies and presents open-source conflict information.

WarStrikes is an independent conflict monitoring platform that aggregates open-source information about strikes, explosions, military activity, security incidents and related geopolitical developments. Our goal is to help users follow fast-moving events in a structured, transparent and responsible way.

WarStrikes is not a government agency, military authority, intelligence service or official source. Information shown on the platform should be treated as open-source situational awareness, not as definitive confirmation.

Data collection

WarStrikes draws on publicly available reporting and signals. Depending on the event, data may come from:

  • Public news outlets and wire services
  • Official statements and public communications
  • Public social media posts
  • Open-source intelligence feeds and aggregators
  • Telegram, X, Reddit and community reports where relevant
  • Geolocation or visual evidence when available
  • Cross-referenced reports from multiple sources

Not every item is independently verified before display. Early or single-source reports may appear while corroboration is still in progress.

Classification system

Events may carry confidence indicators based on source type, corroboration and editorial review. WarStrikes uses the following status concepts. See also Sources & Verification for how sources are evaluated.

Confirmed

UI: VERIFIED / WIRE

Supported by corroborating open-source signals, established media reporting, or official public statements. On WarStrikes this may appear as a VERIFIED or WIRE badge when internal corroboration criteria are met. This indicates stronger confidence, not independent or official confirmation.

Likely

Supported by credible reporting or multiple consistent open-source signals, but still subject to revision.

Unverified

UI: OSINT

Based on early or limited open-source reporting and not yet independently corroborated. Many single-source OSINT items start here.

Developing

An active or evolving situation where details may change quickly.

Disputed

Conflicting claims exist, or the available evidence does not yet support a clear conclusion.

Event updates and corrections

Conflict reporting is fast-moving and often uncertain. Events may be updated, corrected, merged, downgraded or removed as new information becomes available. Users should always check the source links and timestamps before drawing conclusions.

Limitations

  • Real-time information can be incomplete or delayed.
  • Social media reports may be inaccurate, outdated or misleading.
  • Geolocation may be approximate when precise coordinates are unavailable.
  • Timestamps may refer to publication time, report time or estimated event time depending on source availability.
  • Absence of an event on the map does not mean absence of activity.
  • WarStrikes should not be used as the sole source for safety, travel, military, financial or operational decisions.
